Following LSR treatment, your skin may appear slightly red for approximately 2 hours. For treatment involving pigment correction, lesion darkening may occur. This can be covered up with makeup as needed to resume normal activity. Most are able to resume normal activities right away. Your skin should be protected from direct sun exposure during the healing process. Recommendations will be given during your consultation. Once your skin has fully healed (in about 10 days), your skin will appear brighter, younger and firmer. Multiple treatment sessions will be necessary to achieve desired results.

Laser Spider Vein Treatment

Laser pulses and penetrates the superficial blood vessel. The heat generated from the laser coagulates the blood inside the vessel causing it to collapse and seal. Over the next few weeks, the vessel will disappear and all the blood will be removed by the cells. The laser treatment allows the delivery of a precise dosage of energy to each blood vessel without injuring any nearby skin surface.

Q. How do I know if I am a good candidate for Laser Spider Vein Treatment?

All individuals are evaluated prior to laser therapy. Spider veins do not cause symptoms and are of a cosmetic concern only. For those who have symptoms, further investigation is done to ensure that they do not have varicose veins. Laser therapy is most effective for small spider veins and not used to treat large varicose veins.

Q. What happens during the laser therapy?

The procedure usually takes less than 1 hour. In most cases, only very small superficial veins are treated with a laser. The majority of individuals do not require any type of anesthesia as the Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) is used during treatment to limit discomfort. If needed, we may apply a topical anesthetic 20 minutes prior to the treatment.

Facial Blood Vessels Treatment

Blood vessel treatments require the use of a green light laser. Once the vessels are targeted with the laser, the vessel wall will collapse and the debris is absorbed by the body. Generally two treatments will be needed 4 weeks apart. The treatment area is red initially but this resolves within a few hours. Rarely a bruise may result but generally there are minimal side effects. Make up can be applied immediately after the treatment.

Laser Skin Tightening

Skin tightening is non-invasive laser treatment that heats collagen fibers in the skin. This promotes cellular reforming activity to take place. Results are gradual and depending on the depth, 6 to 10 treatments may be required.

The GentleYag laser treatment tightens the skin by transferring heat to the deepest layers of the skin. The non-ablative (non invasive) laser gently heats the dermis (deep layer of skin) resulting in a gradual, no downtime, healing response. This process then causes fibroblasts to stimulate the precursors of collagen, elastin, and other proteins. By activating enough of your own collagen source, wrinkles and sagging skin can diminish within weeks after the treatment. Think of the process as rebuilding the foundation of the building. New collagen results in smoother, younger looking skin.

Q. When will I see results?

The optimum results occur anywhere from 4-6 months after the treatment as the collagen rebuild takes time. If recommended, up to 8 treatments may be done approximately 3-4 weeks apart. As gravity and the aging process naturally take place, the skin looses its youthful appearance, but this treatment is a great alternative to a surgical facelift for less severe cases.

Q. How many treatments are needed?

Although you will notice an improvement in a few treatments, we recommend a minimum of four treatments for more significant results. The number of treatments loosely follows the general rule of one treatment for every decade of life.

Q. How will my skin look right after Skin Tightening?

Immediately after treatment, your skin will take on a reddish tone that diminishes with time -- pinking of the skin typically last up to 2 hours -- however in some more severe cases pinking of the skin could last approximately two days. Most patients can apply makeup later that day or the following day. The downtime is very minimal.

Q. Is Skin Tightening Painful?

The Candela laser has a special cooling spray to cool the skin during the treatment to help and reduce the heat sensation that patients may feel during the application of the laser.

Q. How much does it cost compared to other treatments?

Treatments are about half of Thermage and thousands less than a surgical face lift.

Q. How long do treatments take?

Treatments typically take about 30 minutes for each area. Examples of an area include the face and neck, stretch marks, underarm, abdomen, upper Thighs and more.
