BOTOX Injections
BOTOX® Cosmetic is derived from the toxin Botulinum A. In a very dilute concentration,
it has the ability to prevent the facial expression muscles from contracting. As a result, wrinkles often seen with
facial expression are eliminated.
The most common sites injected are the crow's feet, the forehead, and the area in between the
eyes.
A stinging sensation is often felt with the injection; otherwise there is minimal discomfort.
The effects of BOTOX can be seen within 3 to 5 days and last for 3 to 5 months.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA approved for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown
lines between the brows in people ages 18–65. Side effects associated with BOTOX are minima, however anyone who is
pregnant, nursing, or experiencing any neurological diseases or symptoms should avoid the use of BOTOX.
Fillers
Juvederm and Restylane
are both hyaluronic acid products used for the treatment of moderate to severe
facial wrinkles. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring product in our
bodies there is no need to be tested for allergic reactions. Both require a
series of injections and can be used in the nasolabial folds (deep lines which
run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth), marionette lines
(long vertical lines that laterally circumscribe the chin), and lips. Restylane
will last 4-6 months and Juvederm 6-9 months
Radiesse is a calcium
based filler. Radiesse will stimulate the production of the body's own collagen.
It too involves a series of injections and can only be used in the nasolabial
folds and marionette lines. It is not indicated for lip enhancement. Results can
be seen beyond 12 months.
After the injection with any of the fillers the patient
can expect some redness and swelling which usually subside within 24 hours.
Bruising is a potential complication. Our expert staff member, registered nurse
Theresa Caputy, will gladly assist you with any questions you may have about
fillers and recommend the best treatment.
Facial Blood Vessels Treatment
Blood vessel treatments are done with a green light laser. Once the vessels are targeted with the laser the wall fo
the vessel will collapse and the debris is absorbed by the body. Generally two treatments will be needed 4 weeks apart. The treatment area
is red initilally but resolves within a few hours. Rarely a bruise may result but generally there are minimal side effects. make up can be
applied immediately after the treatment.
Photofacial / IPL
Intense Pulsed Light treatment is indicated for the
correction of sun damage, broken capillaries and rosacea. Four treatments are
recommended at 3-4 week intervals. The end result is overall improvement in skin
tone and texture.
Commonly treated areas are the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. The procedure takes half an hour to 45 minutes.
